Abu Dhabi: Sometimes the good guy wins

Schumi and his heir - Sebastian Vettel,
2010 Formula 1 World Champion

What a race! A faultless Sebastian Vettel scored a fantastic win on his Red Bull-Renault RB6, followed by the McLaren-Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. A brilliant Hamilton despite attacking for the whole race was never able to threaten the young German, as he hit trouble trying to overtake Kubica's Renault before the latter entered the pits. The Renaults, precisely were the revelation of the Grand Prix, their top speed would prove a nightmare for their followers trying to overtake them, and the heroic and sensational performance of Vitaly Petrov, holding back the leader of the Championship, Fernando Alonso was one of the highlights of the day. We hope you get a drive for next year Vitaly, you deserve it! Nico Rosberg was to finish fourth, thus ensuring the World Championship for Seb. Both Renaults would follow, Kubica leading them, and... Alonso and his Ferrari? Oh yes, he finished 7th

We were somewhat surprised as the double World Champion was quite angry at the young Russian. The odd gestures he was making towards him while the cars were joining the pits after the race had ended, and the statments he made to the Spanish media afterwards, did remind us of his brush with Luca di Grassi at the Monte Carlo Grand Prix... Why should a slower car let him pass if they are both fighting for the position? Holding him back thanks to his top speed is exactly what Gilles Villeneuve at the wheel of a Ferrari did in Jarama in 1981, and nobody ever doubted that was a fantastic victory. Michael Schumacher gave us the creeps with his nasty accident in the first lap, when he lost his Mercedes and Liuzzi crashed into him with his Force India. Fortunately he is fine and delighted with the title of his friend Sebastian.

So, well done Sebastian, you deserved it!

Stay tuned.
